2025 European Education and Skills Summit – European Education Area
Milva Carbonaro was honoured to represent SPACE4GEO and its flagship project SpaceSUITE during the panel “Harnessing the pace of change: how can we build stronger education–company partnerships for upskilling and reskilling?”
She shared how, within the Large-Scale Skills Partnership, high-level commitments are being translated into concrete action: strengthening skills intelligence, defining occupational profiles, developing targeted training, supporting learners in their upskilling and reskilling journeys, and promoting a more integrated, cross-sector approach to skills development.
The discussion also reflected on how Earth Observation has become a core component of Europe’s digital infrastructure and why, in a context marked by demographic shifts and competition for talent, collaboration, lifelong learning, and interdisciplinary initiatives are more essential than ever. Even without immediate economic returns, the partnership delivers real value through stronger networks, access to high-quality training, opportunities for joint initiatives, and closer ties with academia, VET providers, and research communities.
Milva had the honour to meet the Vice President of the European Commission and Commissioner for Social Rights and Skills, Quality Jobs and Preparedness, Roxana Minzatu, whose energy, dedication, and commitment to putting education at the centre of Europe’s strategy to ensure skills development, quality jobs, and better quality of life are truly inspiring. She looks forward to collaborating in the announced co-creation of next year’s Education Agenda.
The Summit also offered a great opportunity for Milva to connect and exchange with colleagues from other education and training initiatives and explore future collaboration, in particular with partner Paolo Nardi from EfVET and Jakub Stolfa from the Automotive Skills Alliance, the reference LSPs within the Automotive ecosystem.
This collaboration has already yielded exciting results: Milva is thrilled to share the forthcoming project COMPLEMENTS, which will foster collaboration among the aerospace, automotive, and digital ecosystems under the PactForSkills, creating new opportunities for innovation and skills development across Europe. Together, they are ready to work towards the practical implementation of the Union of Skills and support the development of a skilled workforce to enhance Europe’s competitiveness.
